I am needing to make the decision of a lifetime. I need to find someone (me or my husband) to watch my kids. My mother quit unexpectedly and I am now stuck. I have to spend 95% of my monthly salary to pay for child care. I would be losing more money going to work then staying home.
The thing that makes it easier for me to quit is that fact that my position was already cut in half. A technicality that would allow me to quit and claim unemployment. They are cutting about 800 positions, and mine was one of them. They are also looking to have us furlough in the near future. I wonder who would be first in line for that?!
So basically I would be working less hours and still paying for childcare. It just does not make sense. I will start going to school to get my BSIT as soon as I leave work. I would actually be productive as opposed to wasting time and money to stay at the same job.
